Santa sure did visit the Horton's today

Christmas was so great this year! everyone in our family was so happy with what they received from 'Santa' and my parents. traditions are always the same in this house. we open exchange presents + white elephants Christmas Eve, then all the kids sleep in the playroom that night. we wake up Christmas morning, wait until everyone is awake, including my parents of course, then walk out to see what Santa left us. after we see everything left, and look in our stockings, we take a break and have some breakfast

after that, we all open the presents from my parents

this year Malia, Caleb and i all pitched in some money to buy my parents the gift they have been DYING for. tickets to Brian Regan on January 20 {a Friday night} and a gift card to Zupas to get dinner right before. their faces were priceless. well worth our money

i loved going to church today and hearing songs and talks about the Savior. Christmas is all about Christ's birth and i am so glad we got to attend church to remember that. Christmas is all about HIS presence not THE presents.

cousins are coming tomorrow at noon. i couldn't be HAPPIER.
Merry Christmas everyone!

it's the most wonderful time of the year

i love that quote. when i first found out Christmas was on a Sunday this year, i was not happy. but now as i think about it, it is a good thing. Christmas is all about Christ's birth and if we celebrate it on a Sunday, you can get in your present time, AND go to church. lucky us

Christmas decorations have been UP in this house since the day after Thanksgiving. sure enough, we spent the day after just trying to get our decorations for one of my favorite holidays ever. who doesn't love Christmas? lights, music, the spirit, presents, giving, family, treats, i LOVE it all.

anyways, i posted last year us putting up the tree, and other decorations, so this year i did something like that as well. i didn't make quite as many things for my room this year, and i guess i could have put the old things up, but i made a few new things instead. it's definitely festive around here
top left: every year since i can remember, we do an advent calendar that my dad made forever ago. each day we take turns opening the box and it is either ornaments {to put on that little tree} or a slip of paper, which means a present for the whole family. i have always loved this tradition!
top right: we have also had this advent calendar for as long as i can remember. it goes on our fridge. the siblings and i always fight about what magnet goes next. it's quite fun
bottom left: classic nativity set up on our wall
bottom right: our Christmas tree Christmas card holder

top left: candles, pine cones, holly, and a picture of baby Jesus + Mary + Joseph
top right: b-e-l-i-e-v-e
bottom left: it really is.
bottom right: our old ornaments in a glass vase

top left: our tree. if you read {HERE} we got a new tree last year AND all new decorations/ornaments to go on it. i love our new tree. it's quite gorgeous i think.
top right: just starting to get presents under our tree!
bottom left: what a cute nutcracker
bottom right: the decorations in my room this year were quite simple. i made like 300 paper chains in green, red, and white and hung them all around the room like a sunshine coming out of the chandaleir. THEN i hung lights. like i always do! i think i will still do snowflakes again, but that is if i get some time to actually make them! however, i did find a great tutorial on how to make professional ones {found it on Pinterest. i love that site} follow me!

hello there miss slacker. how are you?

let's just say it has been a busy week. i had 3 tests on Wednesday and i was just studying away and preparing for them. i don't know what i got on my Math test yet, Photo 68%, and Health Science 107%. studying pays off. {ignore the 68... not as worried about that class. shhh} this past week i have been either at school, at the dinner table, at the gym, or in my bed. busy busy busy i am.

good news! i got a new Instagram. 2200 worthless pictures i wanted deleted < starting out fresh with a new account, not putting on so many pictures. SO i started a new one. only downer is that i went from 1600 followers to 180. oh well. who cares! follow my new account: misskeena

in other news... one more week of school until Christmas break! i love this time of year, and i can't wait to have 2 weeks off to spend with family, including my cousins! this time of year is so fun and festive. i am constantly blasting the holiday tunes. including Believe by Josh Groban. love that song

last Saturday night the family and i drove up to "the Festival of Trees." we haven't been there for a couple years and it was so wonderful to go back. of COURSE my favorite tree was the Disney one. duhhhhh
we then drove 2o more minutes, up to Temple square. if you have never experienced Temple square at night, at Christmas time, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. it is gorgeous and so spiritual, i loved being up there
i vow to blog more this week... don't fret.

thanksgiving = over. time for Christmas baby

Turtleneck: Target, Maxi: Old Navy, Flats: Thrifted, Earrings: F21, Belt: F21

shhhh, that skirt is secretly a dress... muahaha

Hanni, Malia and i went Black Friday shopping starting last night at 11:30. started off at Gap, then to PacSun, then finished off at Target, done by 3:30. Black Friday is crazy, but a tradition i absolutely LOVE! i have gone the past 3 years, and never have i been let down. the lines + waiting was insane, especially at Target, but totally worth it. this year i got some awesome new clothes! waaaa hoooo! can't wait

by the time we got home, Mia and i were not tired one bit. stayed up till 4:30 watching Raise your Voice and putting away our new clothes. yes i am tired, since i had to be up for work at 9. yes i worked all day long until 7:30. yes i work all day again tomorrow. and YES I CAN'T WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS! i am DANG excited guys. the countdown begins with the Christmas tree being decorated tonight after work. looks quite extravagant and wonderful i think. gotta love it

30
days until Christmas

today, a day of thanks

hey guys! just wanted to wish you all a happy day of thanks! i love the day, just to remember that i really am grateful for so much in my life. it really puts it all in perspective when you realize how much you really have.

honestly, im not a fan of the 'traditional' Thanksgiving day food, and neither is my family. we started a tradition a couple years ago, to instead of eating the regular turkey, potatoes, stuffing and yams, all pick something we are grateful for that my mom makes, and have that instead. it makes me love Thanksgiving so much more :)

2 years ago it was Asian food, and the year before we had a family party. this year we did DOUBLE meal. for breakfast we had a cereal buffet; we all picked a favorite cereal, & had a huge breakfast of 10 cereals + orange juice + homemade french toast. holyyyyy delicious {cereal is my favorite food by the way. and salad}

i had a bowl of Waffle Crisp, Reese's Puffs, Cocoa Pebbles, and Fruity Pebbles. by the time i finished the Fruity Pebbles i was stuffed, yet still managed to squeeze in some french toast. i guess you could say im pretty good at that

the BEST weekend of my life

lets just say that honestly, it was the BEST 3 1/2 days of my life.

thursday
mom, Mia and i left to pick the cousins up at 6. we arrived at 7 where Malia and i JUMPED out of the car and literally SPRINTED to my cousins. we embraced each other, bawling, in a 5 minute hug... then stopped for a picture. {seen HERE} as dramatic as it seems Briana is my best friend i hate being away from her for so long!! {long as in... 2 and a half months}

we drove home, dropped off their luggage, and went to see Lex who was still working at the mall. we stopped in, gave her huge hugs, and left. we stopped in Texas Roadhouse to buy a dozen of their amazing rolls... LOVE. then went to Yogurtland to meet Lex after work

we stayed up late chit chatting about the recent life, writing down our wishes for 11/11/11, watching YouTube, pinning on Pinterest, and stalking each others Tumblr's

friday
we were up bright and early, 10:00 {i consider that to be early on a day i got to skip school, haha} showered, got ready, grabbed our written down wishes, and headed to my grandmas where we planned on burying them

yep. we had a tribal ceremony. we danced around in a circle from 11:05-11:11 saying "11:11 send us to Heaven!" then from 11:11-11:12 we chanted our wishes in our heads while shining the paper to the sky. at 11:12 we put them in a Tupperware and buried them... muahahaha

since we were already at my grandma's we stopped in after our little ceremony to say hello to her and Kelly. gotta love my grandma :)
next stop: Mountain View. Briana, Kenz, and Mia {who apparently had never been in MV before} wanted to see my school and also see Jacoba, who used to live in their ward up in Seattle but then moved down here. lets just say Jacoba was SO happy and many tears were shed.

after MV, we headed for lunch at Zupas. mine and Briana's favorite restraunt :) we stopped at home, dropped Malia off for B-ball and went to the mall to see Lex again. we shopped around until she got off work, then we all left to her apartment to get ready for dinner at La Jolla Groves
sorry about the quality of that last picture, and the ones to come from La Jolla {bad lighting}

dinner was really fun. it was a bit pricy and not the greatest food ever, but we all had an amazing night! especially since they had unlimited $3 lemonade with 5 different flavors... yum

you REALLY don't wanna know what happened the rest of the night. let's just say it was the craziest night ever, with ANOTHER 11:11 ceremony. plus..... more stuff. greatest night
saturday
we slept at Alexis' apartment Friday night, but we got up, and went back to my house. we watched Cheetah Girls, got ready, then sat on my bed bawling for 2 hours watching "soldiers surprise their wife/kids" THEN we decided to get a life so we went to eat at Zupas again

we finished eating, went to the BYU bookstore, then went to Alexis' apartment to get ready for the BYU game! we got ready, & walked to the stadium. guess who we saw at the game? ;) guys from the night before... quite the night haha. one next to me is Layne, and the other is Jared {long story}
sunday
the last day. got up, went to church, left early,
came home, got their things, left for the airport.

seeing them again in 39 days... can't wait
